BuildSkills Australia has appointed Dave Cameron to its nationally focused role of Industry Engagement Lead – Water.
Dave brings more than 17 years of experience across Australia’s water and irrigation sectors, including senior leadership roles as CEO of Irrigation Australia Ltd and the Queensland Water Directorate (qldwater). He has contributed extensively to national water workforce initiatives through his service on industry advisory committees with Government Skills Australia and Australian Industry Standards, and has chaired both the Water Industry Skills Taskforce and the Water Industry Operator Certification Taskforce.
BuildSkills’ Chief Executive Officer Brett Schimming said “Water is one of Australia’s most essential service industries, and strengthening its workforce is critical for our communities and our economy. Dave brings experience, relationships and insight to help drive real progress, and we’re delighted to welcome him to the team,” Mr Schimming said.
Dave is a past Australian Water Association Distinguished Service award recipient for Queensland, reflecting his passion for water services, particularly in regional Australia. Workforce development has been a major focus throughout his industry support roles.
“It’s great to have another opportunity to try to help address the many attraction, retention and skilling challenges facing operational delivery in the water sector, and Buildskills has some great initiatives in the pipeline I’m keen to get cracking on,” Mr Cameron said.
BuildSkills Australia is the Jobs and Skills Council for the building and construction, property and water industries.
