CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry was endorsed by State and Territory Skills Ministers in December 2021 and released on the National Training Register (NTR) in April 2022.
The revised unit supersedes and is equivalent to the previous version (CPCCWHS1001).
While most qualifications and skill sets have been updated with the current unit (CPCWHS1001), 24 qualifications and 15 skill sets across the Training Package system still refer to the superseded unit (CPCCWHS1001).
The purpose of this project is to:
- Communicate the upcoming update of superseded units of competency to stakeholders and other affected Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs).
- Update the qualifications listed below to replace the superseded units with their updated equivalents.
- Ensure that the training products reflect current industry needs by consulting with stakeholders to determine if the non-equivalent units of competency remain fit for purpose.
- Update two units of competency that reference the superseded unit (CPCWHS1001) in their prerequisite requirements.

Ultimately, these JSCs will be responsible for processing the changes to their Training Packages.
A Technical Committee has been established to provide expert advice, identify any impacts on learners, and possible implementation issues. The Technical Committee members will also identify any additional stakeholders that should be included in the consultation strategy to assist with this project.
